Can't link Access query in 2002

Hilary Sillis

I have just upgraded to Office XP. In 2000, I had a Word mailmerge document
whose data source was an Access 2000 query. Now when I open the document in
Word 2002, I get a message saying Word can't find the data source. When I
browse to the database to try to relink the query I get an incomplete list
of queries. I can't work out why I'm allowed to link to some queries and
not to others. Can anyone tell me what the problem is here?

Many thanks.

Hi Hilary,

This has cropped up regularly, although I've never been able to duplicate the
problem on my system. Unless these are parameter queries? (You get prompted in
Access to enter something?)

For other cases, there is a suspicion that it has something to do with
"ownership".

In any case, you can go back to using the older technology. You'll find
information in the Word2002 section of my website's mail merge FAQ.
