Can't name or save my letter

A

Abby

Hi,

I am trying to save a cover letter onto my disk. The
letter should be going into a folder titled "Resumes" on
my "A" drive. I choose file, then save as..When I name the
letter and then hit save, I get the following message:

"This folder is not accessible. The folder may be located
on an unavailable volume or protected with a password."

What the heck is an unavailable volume?
If I DID somehow give this folder a password (which I
DON'T believe I did)how do I find out what it is?

PLEASE HELP ME!! SOMEBODY!!

If you spend much time in the Word newsgroups, you will see the
often-repeated advice to NEVER work directly with a floppy drive using Word.
Because of the way Word manages temporary files, working directly from/to
floppy from Word is a recipe for lost files/data. The *correct* method is to
save to your hard drive, completely close the file, and then copy the (now
closed) file to the A: drive, if desired (preferably using Windows Explorer
rather than Word to copy the file).

What you're seeing is a perfect example of what happens when this
longstanding advice is not followed. (Each disk or diskette is assigned a
unique identifier of some kind. In this case, it appears that a particular
diskette was accessed by Word, it stored or attempted to store some temp
files on it, and now a different diskette is in the drive, and Word is upset
that it can't find the temp files its looking for).
