Can't open 97 Read-only's in Win 2000

Office/97 Word password protected files allow access as
read-only without password but will not open when users
switched from Win NT to Win 2000 client. Finding numerous
reports of problems. Only solution I've found thus far is
to make user an Administrator but that is NOT viable for
our environment. Basic Word window with tool bars, etc.,
opens but no document is displayed. See indications of
similar problems on Win XP but again no indication of any
solutions. Appreciate all help. Thanks.

Resolved(!)... by applying Office SR-2b patch (couldn't
tell whether 2a or 2b was already on.) Thanks.
