Can't Open a Power Point Pres. in Office for Mac (2004 Student and Teacher Edition)

Hello, I'm having a problem opening a Power Point presentation in
Office for Mac 2004 Student and Teacher Edition. My prof. posts all of
the P.P. slides from his lectures on-line from a PC and I can't open
them. I don't know what version HE has, so I don't know if anyone can
help. I've tried e-mailing him and have no response so far. I assume
the problem is that he's using an older version of P.P? Anyway, any
help would be appreciated, because I really need the info from the
slides. The test is tomorrow!

The error message I'm getting says:

Powerpoint can not open the type of file represented by Macintosh
HD:Users:********:Desktop:filename.ppt.

Thanks!

The problem might be in pictures - if he just copy and paste the images they
are saved as wma which requires converting on Mac. Have you tried to open it
as read only? (option in open dialog box). Can you open it on some PC and
re-saved it? If not,post it here little.creature.inc#gmail.com
where replace # by @ and I will try to re-saved for you.

I'm thinking it may be a .wmz (compressed WMF) or an .EMZ (compressed EMF).

But I'm really suspicious that it's not PowerPoint at all: PowerPoint 2004
will open just about anything that PowerPoint on the PC can produce.

Not so in reverse: we can make movies they can't play.

just wanted to correct myself I ment wmf rather then wma

Just another thought as replied to your post in the PPt ng:

It's possible that the slideshows are intended to run as web presentations
rather than be opened as PPt files. How have you tried to "open" them?
Perhaps just dbl-clking will enable them to run in your browser.

If not, post back with more detail. BTW - PPt 2004 should open just about
any other version if it is a live file.

Please post to only one group... it makes it tougher on everyone - including
*you* - if you scatter your request around. In a case where it is justified
to do so (where the problem involves more than one program, for example)
mention having done so in each post as well as which other groups you've
posted to.
