"Can't open any more databases" printing report with 1 DB open

When printing (from toolbar) a report I was getting
numerous "Can't open any more databases" messages. I
changed the report to be generated from temp tables,
instead of queries (changed the queries to Make Tables
that get run prior to opening the report). This eliminated
all but one of the "Can't open any more databases"
messages. So I've run out of clever ideas on how to
eliminate this message, and I couldn't find any similar
issues on your web search pages. Why are these messages
popping up when I try and print a report ??? (obviously I
only have one database open when running this...)
