Can't open because part of the file is missing

I am running Microsoft Windows XP Powerpoint 2003 Student Teacher addition.
I am a student and am working on a team project, I cannot open my teammates
versions of the presentation. I get the following error message:
Can't open because part of the file is missing
I do know that they are all running earlier versions of powerpoint.
Any suggestions

This problem is fixed if you install Service Pack 1. Open PowerPoint and go to
Help > Check for Updates. Follow the links for "Check for Updates".

I think your file is corrupted. We can recover it or you can do it by
