MS Word 2000 SR-1, Win98Se, plenty of RAM and disk space, no errors on disk,
nothing running in the background. WORD2000 won't open any DOC file from
within Windows Explorer. I have even verified the app assoc'd in Windows
Explorer:
Tools > Folder Options > 'File Types' > I scroll down to 'Microsoft Word
Document' and it says:
Extension: DOC
Conent Type (MIME): application/msword
Opens with: WINWORD
Then if I click Edit > click 'Open' > the path is:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\WINWORD.EXE" "%1"
This is the correct path!
So why won't Word open any docs from Windows Explorer?
Does this hapve anything to do with NORMAL.DOT?
I am trying to resolve the issue by holding down SHIFT and right-clicking
"Open With", and then choosing Word and "Always use this program to open
this type of file".
What gives???
TIA
