can't open docx files sent to me

T

tired

Version: v.X Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Processor: Intel I really need some help here, I got sent these files to add to a project and I can't open any of them. When I click on them in the e-mail they show up as a zip, if I click on the zip them clone themselves. I'm dying here! I downloaded the latest version of stuffit expander. Any help would be much appreciated.

You can Google ".docx" with or without the dot, and see what you get, or go directly to the Microsoft support web site and look to download a .docx translator that Microsoft has provided for those using an older version of Word, like mine. If you haven't updated your Word application for a while, it might also be a component of the updates you've missed. The update will also allow you to save a file in the newer .docx format which your recipients might appreciate. If you Google and think you have a deal with a widget that translates .docx files, I'd suggest you forget it; the widget I got was nothing but a useless nuisance. Go the Microsoft route.

A .docx is a zip file by another name: the internal format is compressed in
zip format.

However, you must NOT unzip them when you get them, if you do, Word cannot
open them.

Nor can you open them from within older email clients.

Save them to the hard disk or you won't be able to open them, because they
must first be passed to the converter than Stan sent you to, and then from
there to Word.

Hope this helps
