Hi Maria,

It is most likely to be due to template corruption. To verify whether this
is the case, start Word without templates and add-ins loaded, to see
whether it still crashes: to do this, click the Start button in the bottom
left of your screen, select Run, and type winword.exe /a.
If that fixes it, either your Normal.dot template or one of the files in
Word's Startup path are probably corrupt, s
i) Try renaming your Normal.dot file-try renaming Normal.dot to Normal.old
– and make sure you only have one Normal.dot file.

Another possibility is that you have a network printer driver that is not
installed on your hard disk, but that is set up as your default printer.

Please let me know if i can be of further assistance...
Thank You...
Raghu...

Problem (that an MS helper in India helped me solve) is a
corrupted file normal template. Here's how to solve it:

1. Click on Start
2. Click on Run . This will open Run Window
3. In the open box type in %appdata% and click OK
4. This will open Application Data Window.
5. In the Application Data window click on the folder
Microsoft.
6. This will show the contents of the Microsoft folder.
7. In the Microsoft folder search for the Templates
folder and Double click it.
8. This will show the contents of the Templates folder.
9. In the Templates folder you have a file with the name
Normal.
10.Right click on that file and rename it to
OldNormal.dot
11.Then open Word.
