Can't open outlook...

Does this mean we create a different user and will loose
the current mail?
We still have a lot of important messages in our inbox...
Will the problem be resolved in our current profile?

Try creating a new outlook profile. How this is done depends on the
version of Outlook you are running. Search for "new outlook profile" at
http://support.microsoft.com and find the article for your version of
outlook. (2002/XP is the same for 2003. 2000 is done differently)
