can't open powerpoint files

the last time i opening my powerpoint files, about a week ago, i had no
problems...today i cannot open them...help, please!

Your going to have to explain a bit more. What happens when you try to open
them? What version of PPT and Windows?

I get the following error message: PowerPoint can't open the type of file
represented by (pathname). I am using windows XP professional, and office
2003.
