Can't Open Word 2000 from Start

Craig

When attempting to open a Word document using the Start
button in Windows ME, I just get a blank box on the
taskbar. After using CTR-ALT-DEL, shows a program called
Osa9. This program shows "is not responding" and after
ending task the ghost box on the taskbar quits. I can only
access documents after opening the main Word program and
then selecting open, which works. Any suggestions on how
to restore the shortcut function and why this happens?

Hello Beth,
I am just attempting to use the "Open Office Document"
feauture from the Start button/menu. This is what creates
the Osa9 program. I did not create any particular
shortcuts myself. Opening a blank document(just launching
Word itself from the program list of the Start button),
then using File>Open and accessing the particular document
I'm looking for, works. Also, using the Documents menu to
access recently used Word files works also.

Hi Craig,

First I would try going to Help in any Office application and using
Detect and Repair.

Also, what version of Windows are you using? I seem to recall a
problem using Open Office Document on WindowsME.
