Cant open Word Files With Arial font

I cant open any of my file that have Arial Font in them. I have run Virus scans on them but there O.K. Any Ideas?

Possibly the Arial font file is damaged? Can you open the file using the
Recover Text from Any File setting in File Open?

I have reloaded windows98, office97, then upgraded to office 2000. All with no results.

I doubt that any of this would replace a damaged font unless you deleted it
first.

Sorry to seem so dim, but the only Arial font I can find is under Windows/fonts. Is ther another one. My Excel works fine.

The site you sujested asumes you can open the doc. which I cant. I can open all other word Doc. if they dont contain Arial. I can open Excel and others with Arial. It's only word I'm having a problem with.
Is there a Seperate Font File for each Program
Also, becouse any new word files from ouside sources that contain Arial Fonts cant be opened, makes me think its not the files but something to do with how the program is looking at them or saves
Have you heard of a viris that my couse this? I have run the latest check on my system and it seems clean. But could it be an old type that my not be supported

I Just made A Discovery. One I can open the files with WordPad. But when I save them with a differant Font they losse there formating
Also, if I open a Doc. that was made useing Times New Roman(Western) and the highlite all and change it to Arial, But dont Save. I can then open all the other files
The only problem is if I then Change there fonts to Times New Roman(Western) and save. Then close without saving the first file. I still cant open the bad file
It seems that I have to show MS Word what Arial is before I can open the Files.
