can't open word probably

I can't open a word file probably on desktop, once I click on a file, it
freeze on a blank screen and at the bottom have a message saying 'running
virus scan', or I have to start word with "safe mode" then will be able to
open the word file.

Disable the "office plugin" in your anti-virus software, it does not
work properly.
