can't open word

I can't open word. It acts like it is trying to open then
I get a message that reads system resources are too low.
There is no other program open and it causes the computer
to freeze. This is the only program that this happens
to.

I am having the same problem...I'm also getting the error

message "KERNEL 32 has caused error in USER.EXE. I thought
it might be a virus, but a virus scan is clean. Please
pass on any info you receive. Thanks
