Can't print imported background in grayscale

I have a show that was created using a picture imported into the master
background. The title slides print fine in grayscale but I can't get
the background to show up when printing the text slides. Any ideas?

Have you put your picture on both the 'title master' and the 'slide master'

Have you set any 'black and white' preferences for the background image ?
View menu > color/blackwhite/grayscale > then right click an object while in
grayscale view to set the options
