Can't Print to Default Printer after this week's Update

Since this week's Tuesday Window Update/fix installs, Word 2007 Home and
Student won't let me print to the/only Default Printer. When I go to Print a
doc, the choice is blank. If I cursor/scroll to the Default printer, then
select it, Word 2007 abends. I can print with any other application to this
printer, including Excel 2007 within Home and Student. I have
uninstalled/reinstalled the printer driver (Espson Artisan 800 via USB), and
uninstalled/reinstalled Home and Student 2007. Same issue. Any ideas?
Thanks.

I just completed a fresh install of 64-bit Vista/Office Professional 2007
today and have a similar problem...Word does not print if the printer (HP
2605DN) is set to spool documents. It doesn't abend, it just sits there.
The printer status applet shows up in the task bar, but no job is received.
All other Office applications (and non-Office applications) print normally.

Word will print normally if I change the printer settings in Control Panel
to print directly to the printer.

I installed all available updates during installation so I can't say if the
problem exists for me before the update was installed.

Additional Information: Actually, I can't print to any printer from Word
2007 unless I disable the spooler in the printer's settings in control panel.

I can print the document to the Microsoft XPS Document Writer and print that
file from the browser. Not sure where the problem lies.

Another work-around:

Make any other valid printer the default printer. Whend printing a document
from Word, select the desired printer (something other than the default) from
the pull down in the print dialog.
