Can't print with text box in upper left corner in Word for Mac 8.0

I'm on an old OS 8.6 original iMac and I can't seem to print when I
have a document containing a picture in a text box in the upper left
hand corner. If I print at low resolution, it will print, but will
place "@V@V@V@" above the text box to the extreme left. If I attempt to
print at medium or high resolutio th ""@V@V@V@" appears and then the
first few lines of the picture will print, and then everything stops as
if the printing has been completed.

Thoughts anyone?

Thanks

Hi jmundy,

Please always remember to state your Office/Word versions when posting!
You're in either Word 98 or 2001, right?

Does the document look right in Print Preview? If not, post back. If so,
then it could be a memory problem with your desktop printer. You can
increase memory to pretty much any application or process, including the
printer.

[Hold on, I'm booting up the old computer 'cause I've forgotten how it
looks/works pre-OS X :).]

Okay. First, I'm in OS 9.1, using Office 2001 so you may have to adapt what
I say for your system.

You need to find your desktop printer icon. It could be on your desktop or
your hard drive or any place else you might have filed it. I have a Brother
printer and the desktop printer icon looks like a printer (what else) and
has a Brother number as its name (BRN_312185_P1_AT). Yours will almost
certainly look different. The desktop printer icon is *not* the same as the
printer driver icon(s) you will see if you go to Chooser.

Anyway, when you find it, select it and do a Get Info (Command> i or
File>Get Info). You'll see a section called "Printing Memory Requirements"
which, depending on your printer, may be immediately visible or you may have
to change views in the Show box. Raise the Preferred memory only (leave
Minimum alone). For example, my Suggested Size is 350K but I have Preferred
memory set to 2000K. Try adding 1000K just to see if this works at all. If
it does clear up the problem, then back off to the lowest number that works:
You don't want to tie up memory unnecessarily.

Hope this helps.
