Can't read MathType equations in Word v.X

A

Andy Kearns

I am trying to read a document that has MathType equations in Word v.X
and cannot "see" the equations. Design Science says it is a font
issue - MathType uses fonts not found in Equation Editor.

Does anyone know how to acquire the necessary fonts to be able to read
(not even edit) these equations?

MathType for MacOSX is being developed right now. Design Science
reports that a beta version may be available late summer 2003.

Hi

I'm pretty sure it's possible to install Office without installing Equation
Editor, which is a cut-down version of MathType.

Put the Office install CD into your drive (I can't right now cause I'm in OS
8.6) and check the value pack installer (or it might be in the regular
installer if you do a custom install) to find Equation Editor and the fonts
that go with it.

Install Equation Editor and the fonts. After you do that, you will need to
run the Office update again
<http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx?pid=download&location=/mac/DOWN
LOAD/OFFICEX/OfficeX_1012.xml&secid=5&ssid=11&flgnosysreq=True> followed by
Disk Utility and Repair Permissions.
