Can't Register Font

D

Doug Sanders

I have a machine with both Word '97 and 2000 installed.

After I use Word '97 and then start 2000 it goes through a 'install and
configure' routine. When just about done it gives me an error message '1907
Can not register font'.

It does not tell me which font it is. Word '97 does not display such an
error.

Not a major problem, I just tell it to 'Ignore' and it finishes.

Is there a way to find out which font out of the 1100 installed?

Thanks,

Doug Sanders

Hi Doug,

For Office 2000 this one was an issue with certain CD drives. The 1907 error would usually be a part of the issues covered in
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q236437

Note that Office 2000 was the first version to use MS-Installer (still in use through Office 2007) rather than the Acme-Setup
program that Office 2007 uses and you can get odd issues with the two. Office 97, for example, does not retain applied patches that
may have been installed when it reruns its setup.

Thanks for your input.

I did review the info from the link you attached.

When Word 2000 begins its 'install & configuration' it is not reading from
the CD. It is just re-installing itself from who knows where. It only does
this if I have run Word '97.

It's not a major problem, if I get the time I'll just start clean out the
fonts and reload them in small groups to try to isolate the problem one.

Thanks,
Doug
