Can't reinstall Publisher

L

Luke

When I try to remove MS Office 2000 Disc 2 from Add/Remove or reinstall
Publisher from the MS Office 2000 Disc 2 from my CD Rom, I get the same
message: ' Another version of this product is already installed.
Installation of this version cannot continue. To configure or remove the
existing version of this product, use Add/Remove in Control Panel'.
There is only one entry for Disc 2 in the Add/Remove List and below it the
MS Office 2000 Premium entry.
Help would be greatly appreciated.

ALWAYS post the version of Windows you are using to get the correct and
accurate assistance.

You can get a program from the MS website called "msicu.exe" and there is a
second one required for Disk 2 of Office. Read the instructions with these
files carefully, and fully understand how they work, but they will/should
cure your ills.

First, my apology. I'm running Win ME. The trouble is that the notes for
erasecd2.exe say that I must run the setup first and remove CD2 first.
That's the problem. When I try to run the setup I get the message 'another
version of this product is already installed etc.
So I cannot remove CD2 using setup as advised.

Have you tried running erasecd2 without completely removing CD2 first?

Luke, start in SAFE MODE and run it. I remember this from the dark distant
past when another user had the same problem.

Your instance is only the second one I have heard off.

Ran erasecd2 in Safe Mode. Same message appears as above when I try to
reinstall CD2 from Disc - 'Another version of this product is already
installed... etc. MS Office CD2 also still appears in Add/Remove and I get
the same message when I try to remove from there. Grateful for your help
folks....any other suggestions?
