can't rename thumbs...

Karen

Hi all,
I am trying to publish a web site and include a short 4 min video clip from
Christmas. It uploads for a very long time and then I get an error message
that says it "can't rename thumbs.db". What does this mean? Someone seemed
to think that it meant I am out of space on my host site. Anyone know if
this is true or not?
Thanks.

Do you have a file called thumbs.db in your web? If you do delete it. 1.
You don't need it and 2. It's a hidden Windows System file. Thumbs.db gets
created by Windows whenever you choose to view a folder on your PC in
thumbnail view. You should now be publishing this.

In your local web, delete the thumbs.db file which is created when you view
the content of the folder with Windows XP / My Computer.

Thanks for the help. I am now going to try deleting the thumbs.db and see
what happens.

Well now I am getting another error message along the same line -- cannot
rename "filename.tmp" - where the file is the media file (wmv) I am trying
to upload. Any ideas on what that could be?

For that you need to contact your host and ask them to run a check on the
extensions, and/or check the permissions on your account.

OOOhhhh, I was afraid you might say that. I am using the web hosting
accounts that come with Comcast, and while I have had no problems for the
most part, when I have had to call them, they always want to blame
Frontpage. Have not been able to get them to reset extensions or check them
in past instances. I will contact them again and try this time. Thanks!

After deleting the thumbs.db did you find and delete all temp files in the FrontPageTempDir (in your default Windows Temp folder)
and find/delete all *.web files (hidden web cache files)
Then open FP and run a Tools Recalculate Hyperlinks before you publish
