Can't save new documents

Since reformating my hard drive and re-installing Office
2000 the Word module will not save new documents. I get
the following error message: Microsoft Word The
folder 'C:\Documents and Settings\Howard Levin.Howard1
\Desktop\"file name"' isn't accessible. The folder may be
located on an unavailable volume or protected with a
password.

The folder is freely available to save and retrieve Excel
documents and I haven't knowingly set up any passwords.

I can type and print documents without a problem but the
program will not allow me to save them.

Any help would be appreciated.
