Can't 'save' or 'save as' in Word 2000

Strange, it broke. I was editing a large text file a week ago with Word 2000,
tried to save, got an error, forget exact text. Something about the autosave
being postponed, possibly.

Anyway, every since then Word won't save anything. Both Save and Save As do
nothing. No dialog, no saves are made to file changes, nothing.

Tried Add/Remove programs, change option, then Repair Office, Repair Errors in
my Office Installation. Did not help. So I'm stumped. I don't really want to
do a total reinstall. Maybe that's my only choice.

Seems something became corrupted. Registry problem possibly? Maybe restore the
System State from a week ago when this happened. (I use Backup Exec for
Windows Servers).

Suggestions? I'm stumped.

Thanks,
David F.

Well, that didn't solve it, but it got me started. Tried Add/Remove programs,
change option, then Reinstall Office. Did not help. Finally, I tried deleting
Normal.dot. That fixed it, so I restored Normal.dot from a few weeks ago.
Still works, so I'm happy for the moment.

What's really weird though is this: This computer goes from one strange
anamaly to the next.
* This problem
* Would not print DOS ap. Chkdsk C: fixed that.
* Uninstalled LaserJet 4 envelope feeder & large capacity drawer all by
itself. Had to click the correct boxes in the printer setup *again*.

Thanks,
David
