Can't save query

I have written the following query and it runs, but Access won't allow me to
save it without the error message, "Access has encountered an error and must
close. We're sorry for the inconvenience. You will lose any unsaved
information..." I don't know if it's the syntax or what . . .

SELECT DISTINCT tblLocks.Lock, tblInmates.InmateId, tblInmates.LstName,
tblMscndcts.SancStart, tblMscndcts.SancRel
FROM (tblLocks LEFT JOIN tblInmates ON tblLocks.Lock = tblInmates.Lock) LEFT
JOIN
(SELECT DISTINCT tblMscndcts.InmateId, tblMscndcts.SancStart,
tblMscndcts.SancRel
FROM tblMscndcts
WHERE DATE() BETWEEN tblMscndcts.SancStart AND tblMscndcts.SancRel) AS M ON
tblInmates.InmateId = M.InmateId
WHERE tblLocks.Lock BETWEEN "1-101B" AND "1-110B"

I have never seen this behavior before. Anyone know what could be causing
it? I am on a Win NT machine at work, but still doing all design on the local
drive.
