can't save xlsb

Merge

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Power PC I was working on an xls file, but I needed to "track changes", which I think involves sharing the workbook. Now I have an xlsb file that won't save. Keep in getting the message "this file is locked, try the command again later" ?? any thoughts on how to be able to save, whilst retaining my tracked and visible changes?

thank you
Meryl

"Save As" to a different file name.

Or figure out what is holding the file open. Sadly, that's easier said than
done: it's probably the "Temp" file that's locked, and you will never find
that.

Cheers

Another option which may enable you to salvage everything -- or at least
'most' of it...

Select all sheets (click the first tab then Shift+Click the last one) & go
to Edit> Move or Copy Sheet. Select (new book) from the 'To Book:' dropdown
menu, tick the box for 'Create a Copy', click OK to finish. Then see if you
can save & close the new workbook.
