Hi,
Thanks if anyone can help me on the following problem as I could not solve
it for many days:
Situation: Using Word 2003 and Outlook 2003 to send HTML e-mail message
containing images (Mail Merger or individual copies)
The problem: Using Outlook 2003 to view sent copies and received e-mails,
images (using absolute links to a web site) is disappeared (and replaced by
a placeholder and a red x without any option to download image) in both the
received messages (sending to myself for testing) and in the "sent copy".
Additional notes: No option for downloading pictures (as for other e-mail
messages or junk mails containing images), and no effects for adding the
sender to the safe list.
This problem will not happen when: (1) the very same message is opened and
viewed with a browser (such as using Internet Explorer to access the hotmail
e-mail account) instead of viewing in the Outlook 2003, (2) the HTML e-mail
message is sent with FrontPage 2003 with Outlook 2003.
In the later case, both the sent copies and received messages (in Outlook
2003) appears normal and will display images.
Again, the problem only occurs when using Word 2003 (via Outlook 2003) to
send HTML e-mail messages with images and viewing the messages (and sent
copies) with Outlook 2003.
The problem will not occur when using an IE to view the received messages
sent by Word 2003 and Outlook 2003. The problem also will not come up when
using FrontPage 2003 and Outlook 2003 to send the message and viewing it
with Outlook 2003.
The reason for this problem bothers me is that I can't tell if the messages
were probably composed and delivered so others who are intended to receive
the message will view it correctly.
The problem did not come up until recently (about 2-3 weeks) and during the
time, I did nothing but doing routine MS Windows and Office updates, and NIS
updates.
No major configuration changes have been done (but some have been tested for
this problem since it came out).
Appreciate if someone could point where might be the problem since it may
related to Word and/or Outlook.
PS: We need to use Word because the mail merger functions for this kind of
HTML messages, so sending within Outlook itself and/or with FP is not a
solution for us.
Many thanks.
