Can't seem to change a formatting issue

Every thing I type in Word comes out with a bullet between each word and a
weird symbol at the end. I've tried changing formats and the same thing keeps
occurring.

You have the display of nonprinting characters turned on. The "weird
symbol" ¶ is a paragraph mark, and the bullets represent spaces. To
turn them off and on, either click the toolbar button that has the ¶
symbol on it, or press the shortcut keys Ctrl+Shift+8, or go to the
Tools > Options > View dialog and uncheck everything in the
"Formatting marks" section.

The page http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/NonPrintChars.htm
explains these and other nonprinting characters, and why you may want
to see them.
