Can't seem to remove Office 2004 Test Drive

I'm preparing to install Office 2004, and the readme instructions say
to FIRST remove Office 2004 Test Drive if it's on your mac. Well, it's
on my mac, so I ran the "remove tool" which is in that folder.....BUT
it did not produce a list of anything to remove, therefore would quit
on me without removing anything. It did produce a Remove Office log.txt
file on my desktop which says: "Found these items: OFC2004_TD_FOLDERS:
/Applications/Office 2004 for Mac Test Drive"

Unfortunately, that does not show up in the "Remove Office" tool, so I
can't remove it that way.

Could this be happening because I've never launched any part of this
Office 2004 Test Drive? By not launching anything, are the programs
just sitting there in the Test Drive folder - uninstalled? And if so,
can I just drag the folder to the trash and empty it, thereby being rid
of Test Drive?
......after which I can just install my purchased Office 2004?

Thanks for any help. I'm pretty much at a loss as to what to do next.

I have the same problem and worse, I never installed it on my new
MacPro but it came by sharing with my older Powerbook and getting in
front of my original MacX Office Professional version. So clicking on
an icon on desktop does not link to the Professional version anymore.

I had the exact same thing happen on my MacBook Pro when I first bought
it, and my guess as to the reason was the same as yours. Anyway, I just
removed the Office 2004 test drive folder and emptied the trash and
then loaded Office 2004. It has been working fine ever since.
