When I travel and am on a differant ISP, I cannot send, reply or forward
email. What can I do to fix this?

I tried changing the settings and it didn't work at the airport. I'll try at
the hotel tonight.

I forgot to mention I'm running Outlook 2007 on a Vista 64 bit laptop, if
that makes any differance.

Doesn't make a difference. It could simply be that your ISP doesn't allow
remote access. In those cases you'll have to use the SMTP server local to
the network you are currently on (if offered). Otherwise you can only resort
to web based email.

So WHAT did you try (that didn't work at the airport)? Authenticating
to the SMTP mail host, perhaps? If that doesn't work, there is a good
chance that the target SMTP mail host will not let you connect to it
when you are off-domain (i.e., not on the domain's network for their
SMTP mail host that you want to use). Another possibility is that they
require you use non-standard settings when off-domain, like enabling
SSL, using a non-standard port number, requiring SPA, etc. You will
need to check with whomever's SMTP mail host you want to connect to see
if they require special setup to use their resources when off their
domain.
