Can't send link with space

I wanted to send an Outlook 2000 message to someone in my workplace. I opened
up a folder on the LAN and dragged a link to the document. I copied myself the
message.

The hyperlink looked like this:

\\asok\shared$\works\Brs\Management\Howard Status.doc

Going out, it was all one link.

But received, the hyperlink ended at the space.

Is this a known bug?

What happens if you enclose it in Parentheses?
