Can't send using Outlook 2003 and Connecter to hotmail

I can receive from hotmail ok using Outlook 2003 under Win 7 with
Connecter installed but anything I send just sits in outbox forever.

Have no idea why? Only message is when trying to exit it asks because
there's mail to send.

Is there some other way to setup Outlook to access my hotmail account.
PO's me OE is gone :(
