Can't un-anchor graphics

Carlos

I received a word document (Office 2002) in the file. I
want to align the picture in line with text, but every
time I try, it partially dissappears and moves to other
than where I want it.

I noticed a small anchor shape next to the graphic on the
left side, but I can't remove it. The anchor slides up
and down the left of the graphic, but won't go away.

How do I un-anchor this graphic so that I can better
control my document?

You "un-anchor" it by changing the wrapping to In Line With Text. Click on
the graphic. This will display the Picture toolbar. Click on the Text
Wrapping button (dog icon), which will open a menu from which you choose the
inline option.

Suzanne,

Thanks for the help. I normally paste graphics into word
using that method and have been trying to do that this
time also, but with only intermittent success.

For some reason, when I select the various wrapping
choices the picture behaves oddly, moving to places it
shouldn't go and partially dissappearing. That doesn't
happen with all graphics, but it happens with several of
them I'm working with.

I just received a powerpoint file with a new graphic in it
and when I try to put it "in line with text" the graphic
move up over the previous paragraph and only part of the
graphic is actually visible. When I do a print preview, or
even print the page, it views/prints with the graphic with
part of the graphic missing.

It appears to me that word is trying to squeeze the entire
graphic into a single line and cuts off whatever doesn't
fit on that line.

Yet, with another powerpoint file (graphic) I was able to
copy them in and put them in line with text with no
problems. The graphics are created by a single person on
a single computer, so I'm baffled.

Any other ideas?

Carlos

Carlos,

Check the paragraph formatting on the lines where graphics look "squeezed".
Is it set to Exactly x points? If so, try changing it so Single spaced.

When you make a floating (wrapped) graphic inline, it should by default be
inserted in the paragraph to which it is anchored. If that paragraph has
"Exactly" line spacing, then only part of the picture will be visible. You
probably need to put the picture in a separate paragraph with Single or Auto
line spacing.
