Can't uninstall, Annoying prompts to install!!!!

Hi.

I inherited an old laptop running w2k and office xp plus
Project & Visio installed from an obsolete lan address I
don't have access to. Every time I start a program (eg.
IE5) I am prompted to install both Project and Visio.
Trying to uninstall them results in the same prompts then
fails. It is looking for .msi files on the lan. How do I
kill these prompts or uninstall these programs, it makes
the laptop unusable!!!
