Can't uninstall office XP - rollback automatically starts

I'm running XP Home edition and I am trying to uninstall Office XP; I'm seeing the following behavior:

The Office XP uninstall goes all the way to the end (my menu items, quick launch icons, etc. disappear) then it automatically starts a rollback process that puts everything back on my system.
