Can't update Fields in a Linked Excel sheet from Access

with Access 2007, I noticed that the facility to link to an excel sheet
specifically mentions that "source data can not be changed from within
Access".

I was able to carry out SQL updates in Access 2000, how can this
functionality be found in access 2007

You can't do this any longer. The change happened back in Office XP (2002)
and it happened for legal reasons. See this link for more information and
