Can't view email reply from Plain-text sender

I have this re-occurring problem while using Outlook 2000 on Win XP:
I send out an email in HTML format. I get a reply from a user of an
internet-based email program, apparently in plain text. I cannot read nor
even see the reply, all I see is my original email, but there is an
attachment called "reply.dat" in an unknown file format. In order for me to
see what the reply says, I need to log into the server (which in this case
happens to be an email account on Yahoo!) and view it there.
How can I enable outlook to show me the response?

Associate DAT files with Notepad and you should be able to read the
attachment.
