Can't view photos attached to e-mail

Some photos and graphics in the body of messages and
those attached to messages aren't viewable; The dreaded
red X appears. Some are. Clicking on the X SOMETIMES
produces this message:

WINDOWS CANNOT OPEN THIS FILE. TO OPEN THIS FILE, WINDOWS
NEEDS TO KNOW WHAT PROGRAM CREATED IT. WINDOWS CAN GO ON
LINE TO LOOK IT UP AUTOMATICALLY, OR YOU CAN MANUALLY
SELECT FROM A LIST OF PROGRAMS ON YOUR COMPUTER.

I regularly work with 4 different computers, and only one
has this problem, but I haven't been able to figure it
out. Any thoughts?
