I just installed Word 2003 and now I can't open anything.
Even newly created docs once they are filed. I have
noticed other postings on this with the same problem. I
installed on an XP system. I installed on a Win2000
system without any problems

Hey guys, just found this on page 2. I had the same problem as you and this fixed it

"First search for officeav.dll and if found go to Start/Run and run th
following command

regsvr32 /u "c:\program files\norton antivirus\officeav.dll

In the above example the path for "Officeav.dll" would depend on th
location of the DLL.

The fix presented below now allows me to open MS Word 2000 files
quickly. I had renewed my Norton Antivirus 2003 program subscription
and found that after the renweal, it was taking approx. 3-4 minutes to
open a Word file.

However, when I now try to open Norton Antivirus from the Program
menu, I get an hourglass (meaning it is trying to open the
program)then the hourglass disappears and I don't get the Norton
Antivirus console box popup. Also, the Norton icon has disappeared
from the taskbar. It used to be there.

Any ideas?

My computer's operating system is Windows 98SE.

We are currently experiencing the same problem. Our PCs live update
automatically at startup and after that was done word and excel were
extremely slow. We have made a temporary fix by going into the Options
of Norton and then into Misc and disabling the Office plug in. If
anyone finds a permanent fix please reply.

The problem is because Norton's Verisign Certificate expired on 7 January.
They will have to renew their certificate and then provide a new download to
patch it. I suggest all NAV users start a class action against Norton.
