Capital letters in lists

Microsoft Word 1997
This will probably seem like a silly question, but, everytime I type in a
list of words (one word on each line) each word always starts with a capital
letter automatically which is really annoying as I have to go back through
the list altering the initial letters to lower case.
Can anyone help me with my dilemma?!
Regards,

Several ways to override the automatic capitalisation of the first word in
sentences: the easiest is to go to Tools, AutoCorrect and clear the
Capitalise option.

Another way is that after you have typed in your list, select the list and
use the Change Case command (Shift+F3) to toggle through the case options
until the list is all in small case letter. Takes but a few seconds to
achieve.
