Capitalize first character of sentence does not work

Outlook2003, have capitalize first character of sentence checked under Tools,
Options, Spelling, AutoCorrect but it does not work.

I have created a new profile, turned off/on feature; it will not capitalize
first character of sentence.

Suggestions appreciated; thanks!

Are you using the built-in editor or Word?

which editor and what message format?

It won’t work with HTML formatting in the Outlook editor. It only works with
plain text (and probably RTF but most people shouldn't use RTF - ever.)

Why do you say that about RTF -- 'ever'? It's our companys standard, and the
initial cap feature works fine with RTF for everyone else. ???

It's fine for internal Exchange email but will not work with Internet email
unless the sender also uses Outlook. Non-outlook users will get a plain text
message and a winmail.dat attachment. Any legit attachments (docs, photos
etc) will be hidden inside the winmail.dat which the recipient can't open
without 3rd party tools.

Outlook (and the Exchange server) can automatically convert RTF to HTML for
internet addresses - you should use these settings if you use RTF.

Thanks for the info, albeit I don't know what it really has to do with why 1
person's Outlook won't capitalize the first character of a sentence and the
rest of us work fine. :-(

Sender and recipient should be within the same Exchange organization and
both must be using Outlook.

No other e-mail client than Outlook can understand RTF. Users of other
e-mail clients, and that includes Outlook Express, will get your RTF
e-mail but as plain-text with a winmail.dat attachment that they cannot
use to restore the formatting as you composed it. Also, RTF can get
corrupted during transmission if interrogation of its contents results
in modifying those contents. This can happen when using e-mail
providers that slide in their spam promotional signature at the end of
your e-mails that use their freebie accounts, anti-spam programs that
insert content, etc.

While everyone at your company is required to use Outlook as their
e-mail client and they all go through the same Exchange server, that is
definitely not true for e-mails that you send to outsiders.

You were the one that started the off-topic subthread.

Is the other person using HTML formatting or RTF?
