capitalizing after abbreviations

Have Word 2000. Use abbreviations, i.e. import. =
important. When used in sentence the word after keeps
capitalizing Or is green lined to be capitzalized. Went
auto-correct. Listed word in "expceptions", but still
green lined for correction. How do I get it to accept the
abbreviation and following word as okay?

The problem here is that 'import' is a real word in its own right and
doesn't need a following stop. This is throwing Word because it cannot fail
to see ... import. as anything but the end of a sentence. If you abbreviated
to say Impo. it would be OK. However, saving the 'any' doesn't seem such a
big deal. Have you thought of using AutoText to abbreviate it to 'impo' and
let AutoCOmplete finish the full word?

Greetings--
This is not happening in Word 2003.
Are you sure that you pressed the "Add" button after entering "import." in
the auto-correct exceptions dialog? Pressing "OK" to close the dialog is
not enough.
