This display has been missing from Word for many versions now.

But your keyboard will have a light indicator that signals when caps lock is
active.

Graham,

Not always the case. The new MS Keyboard Elite for Bluetooth does not have
an indicator for numlock or caplock. If you press either of them the status
is displayed briefly on the screen and then turns off. This is to extend
battery life.
