Hi all,
I am using Word XP.
I have a document with several chapters and subheadings (up to headin
7 level). There are lots of figures, tables and equations which I wan
to number simply as "Figure <chapternumber>.<figure number>" e.g
Figure 3.2
I am using the insert caption function to automatically number figures
tables and equations in my document. I have selected the "use chapte
number box" and have selected my heading 1 as the 'chapter number
reference.
This works for the first few figures in chapter 1, but then th
numbering suddenly is out of sequence (still in chapter 1) and start
at 0.1, 0.2, etc, and then again later on it resets to 0.1, 0.2 etc
Even for the first figure in later chapters, the numbering problem i
the same, e.g. instead of figure 4.1, I get figure 0.1. I don'
understand why because all the chapter and sub-headings throughout th
document appear fine.
I would be most grateful if anyone could help me with this problem as
am nearly at my wit's end!
