cascading text in MS WORD 2003 (XP)

I am attempting to have a block of text taper down the page on both right and
left; I need to know how to insert and flip triangle shapes without covering
up the text in the document, so the text will appear to flow naturally along
the hypoteneuse of the right triangle. All suggestions will be extremely
welcome.

You already have the technique defined. What part of it are you having
trouble with? You insert a triangle AutoShape from the Drawing toolbar
(AutoShapes | Basic Shapes) and format it as No Line, No (or White) Fill,
and Tight wrapping. Copy/paste and Flip Horizontal. Drag the AutoShapes to
the required position.
