cd-rom not reading program

I recently purchased the Publisher 2002 to upgrade my Office 2000 Publisher program. Now my cd-rom will not acknowledge the disk. All of my other programs work, apparently this one my be faulty. Is there a way to fix this? If so how do I do it. I've tried to install it manually but that doesn't work either. Please give me some suggestions on how to correct it.

Do you receive any errors? What do you mean by "not acknowledge the disk"?
Which disc are you trying to insert? For what purpost?
What version of Windows are you using?
