CD-RW Recognition

Why will the PP 2003 program will not recognize a CD-RW in my wife's Inspiron
600 laptop? If I load a CD-R, it will sometimes work. Now, if I close PP and
load the file from Explorer, I can easily transfer the talk to a CD-RW. The
CD player, which otherwise works fine, is a 4X DVD/CD-ROM [HL-DT-ST RW/DVD
GCC-4241N] that plays most formats. Reducing the speed does not correct the
problem in PP. Running Office 2003 and Win XP Pro Sp2.

Jeb,

If you have some cd-writing software that cames with the CD writer....you will find that it's much more reliable than
windows to write the data to the CD. You will also get the full options to erase a CD-RW

Well, She does have Sonic RecordNow v.6. But, to use the CDs derived
therefrom (a thier method), one must have Sonic software! Thus I prefer to
use another source. I'm not certain what software is the default when I
create a CD from Explorer. In any event, I am trying to determine why I can
not use the CD creation method integral to PowerPoint. How do I
correct/update the PP software to recognize a CD-RW in her DVD/CD-ROM? Why
does PP only recognize a CD-R? Makes no sense...

PowerPoint passes the task off to Windows to write a CD if you are using Package
for CD. I can't tell you why it won't recognize/accept a CD-RW, but I just did
a test on my system and Package for CD will not recognize a blank CD-RW in my
drive. It's the first time I've tried it because I always use Nero to burn
disks. Therefore, I use Package to Folder and then burn the disk externally in
Nero.
