CDR GDI1033 instllation error

B

Barry

I sucessfully installed and then uninstalled Office, but could not reinstall
it. I get an error whichh I believe says something about CDR GDI1 1033 (wish
I had written it down). I've tried the installation several times, and I get
the error each time. Any ideas?

Barry

Good point. I reran the installation and got the following error:

Error 2711. An internal erro had occurred. (GraphicsFilterCDRFiles DLL_1033)

Is that last part exactly what it says?

Excipt for my typo "erro" rather than "error", and the possibllity of
imbedded spaces not exactly as it appeard, yes this is what it said.

Nothing sowed up in Google but a .cdr file is a Corel Draw file. It's
getting hung up on a filter file. I would think that Office would still be
able to install without it but apparently not.

2007 Beta, and I don't have any Corel apps installed.

Here's more history. I installed Office Pro 2007 beta, then decided to
remove it. I also accdidently removed Project Pro 2007, then attempted to
reinstall it. That's when I got the error message. I've tried reinstalling
Office Pro 2007 but that won't reinstall either. Also, I tried uninstalling
and reinstalling Project Pro. Control Panel says it's still there, but when
I attempt to remove it a 2nd time I get a message telling me the installation
is corrupt and I need to reinstall it. Looks like some registry entries are
corrupted, but I can't restore to an earlier checkpoint either. Is there a
removal tool or something to clean up the registry so I can start over?

The good news is Office 2003 still works just fine.

Well, that hasn't worked either. After running the utility I tried
reinstalling the app and got the same error. Not only that, but after
running the utility the app was still listed in Add/Remove Programs, but of
course when I trued to run Remove it told me the installation was corrupted
and I needed to reinstall it. Get's more and more interesting doesn't it?

It definitely is an installer issue. There are articles all around addressing
this error besides the one I directed you to in the earlier post. The cleanup
utility usually will take care of installer issues.

When you're doing all the uninstalling and cleanup, don't forget about the
Windows Desktop Search piece...it's part of the Office 2007 Beta package, but
hides at the bottomo of Add/Remove Programs so it's easy to miss.

When you get to the Upgrade/Install/Customize screen, select Customize.

Click the plus sign next to the Office Shared Features, and click on
Converters and Filters. Then select Install on First Use and proceed.

That should fix the install failure, and you have to do this with every
application you install.

Before using the applications, make sure to install the TR, because I
encountered corrupted menus and icons before installing the TR.
