Cell border printing problems

Word 2k, Windows XP

I am having a problem with cell borders on the sides
extending to the top of the cell when I print. The top
and bottom of the cells do not have borders (by design).
I have traced the problem down to two issues, one being
that the cells have a top and bottom margin of 0.05", and,
two, using a fill. The gap is equal to the top margin. If
I have no margins, or no fill, the side borders will
extend to the top edge of the cell. I have tried
different border thicknesses, with no results.
Also, if I do use a top border, the line thickness from
where the side border stops(at the start of the top
margin) to where it reaches the top, is different.

This problem is evident regardless of whether I print to 2
different HP laser printers (5000 & 2100) or create a PDF
file using Acrobat 4.05 or 6,0.

I can post a link to a PDF file demonstation the problem,
if needed.

Thanks

The message should read:

I would still like to know if there is a fix for this
problem, but in the meantime I have figured out a work-
around:
With all cell margins set to 0", I can get the margins I
want using paragragh formatting, by calling for some
before and after spacing (points instead of inches), and
some indentations instead of side margins. The resulting
printout looks fine.

Check to make sure you're applying the borders to the cells and not to the
paragraphs.
