Cell formatting

When trying to type the number 4 (or any number) at the end of my 16 digit credit card number in a cell, Excel makes it a zero. When I try to type a leading zero it does not put it in.
I am using numbers for format and have tried text too.
Thanks

If you've tried formatting the cell as Text, and you're still having XL
convert the last digit to 0, then something is *very* wrong with your
setup - and I'd have no idea what...

XL, like nearly all spreadsheets, has a maximum of 15 decimal digits of
precision, which is why the 16th digit is truncated.

For credit cards that almost certainly don't have math performed upon
them, the usual recommendation is to preformat the cell as Text or to
enter the card number prefixed by an apostrophe:

'1234567890123456

Can you try preformatting the cell as Text and try again?
